This mural-in-progress, in a dining hall on Facility F, depicts the history of incarceration in California—beginning with chain gangs, and progressing through Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison, reforms by Jerry Brown, workshops by the Actors Gang, and various other academic and rehabilitative programs.

These murals at Avenal State prison are scattered throughout the various yards. They were created by entirely inmate crews, not as part of Arts in Corrections.
