What do you do after driving five hours to photograph a band--but the band's instruments don't make it to the shoot? In our case, we made portraits!

Classes in a prison can be interrupted for any number of reasons—but as Arts in Corrections instructors have learned, in such cases you just do what you can. Music instructor Lacy J. Dalton was as gracious as ever, lending to the effort not only her guitar, but also her warm and generous spirit. And she even assisted with wardrobe adjustments. Instructor Dale Poune can be seen in the group portrait.

The class is part of Arts in Corrections; funding for these photographs was provided by the California Arts Council.
