Here are two classes at California Institution for Men, run by the Prison Arts Collective.
On this day Vincent Haycock, Willo Perron, and Brian Roettinger— award-winning artists connected through PAC x Huxley's distance learning collaboration—visited as teaching artists.
With PAC support on yard-A, Willo and Brian taught participants a creative logo design lesson, requiring participants to use a variety of materials to explore different fonts and visuals that spoke to their personal brand.
Vincent led a writing lesson on yard-C, using thought-provoking images he took himself and prompting responses in PAC participants. These pieces of writing varied immensely among students due to their storytelling abilities and creative talents.
The class is part of California Arts in Corrections, which is administered by the California Arts Council in partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation: www.artsincorrections.org.
